creative ecology is a programme of socially engaged arts practice, consisting of participatory art projects and associated training/consultancy, developed by Wiltshire based artist and consultant James Aldridge.

James Aldridge is a visual artist with experience of working in museum and gallery education, of running arts projects with schools and community groups, of delivering training for teachers and artists, and of acting as a consultant through project development, evaluation, presenting and writing for publication.

James's participatory work is informed by more than 13 years of working within the arts, education, heritage and environment sectors. creative ecology focuses on using a dialogical approach to learning, encouraging participants to develop confidence in their own creativity, to explore their local environment, and to share their learning through making.

Projects that encourage each individual to explore their own creativity and ideas within the context of their local environment can encourage learning from across the curriculum, improve mental and physical health, and contribute to the development of more sustainable communities.

creative ecology aims to give participants opportunities for learning about themselves and their natural, social and cultural environment, in ways that are accessible and enjoyable and which promote ecological literacy, community cohesion and a greater awareness of the role of the arts within society.
